Dance teachers are different to the majority of the population who relish the chance to shut the door of their office or workplace and relax in the sun. You would have thought that having a strenuous physical job the opportunity to slow down was very tempting. However at the beginning of August, in a heatwave, dance teachers from all over the UK and abroad were practising their moves at the Royal Ballet School. Wizard Video were again delighted to be sponsors at IDTC ( International Dance Teachers Conference) where a wide variety of dance genres were on offer.

Despite the heat outside, the enthusiasm and energy were infectious. Our camera crews were kept on their toes, filming in four different studios. A dazzling Gala which included performances from Tap Attack and Big Ballet, followed by a ceilidh party got everyone in the dancing mood. But everyone was up bright and early next day for class. Three intensive days of instruction followed with Wizard Video following all the action. all delegates will receive a DVD containing all the routines which were taught by a distinguished faculty which included Wayne Sleep, Matt Flint, Jo Scanlan and Dame Monica Mason. Other lectures included subjects as diverse as best business practice & marketing and injury prevention.  Luke Rittner’s interview with Dame Gillian Lynne brought gasps from the audience on learning that at 88 she still exercises everyday. Not only were we filming but we were busy editing too so that the delegates could watch a short highlights video on the last day. This year we made some last minute editing adjustments on site so that the final draft contained shots of Dame Monica Mason only filmed  an hour or so earlier the same day. You can watch that same highlights video at

At the end of the month we’ll be meeting even more teachers in Cheltenham at the NATD Congress, where Len Goodman will be interviewed by Angela Rippon. Do come and say hello if you are there as we ‘d love to meet you.
